Shannon Rahming Announced as State Enterprise IT Services Admininistrator

Carson City, NV - Department of Administration Director, Patrick Cates, announced the appointment of Shannon Rahming as the Administrator for the State Enterprise IT Services (EITS) Division effective October 8, 2015. Rahming will also receive Governor Sandoval’s appointment as Chief Information Officer.

Rahming has served as the interim EITS Administrator since April 2015. As EITS Administrator, Rahming is in a high visibility position with statewide responsibility for IT policy, planning, security and technology advancement. The IT Administrator is responsible for the oversight of a legislatively approved biennial operating budget of approximately $90M, and the management of approximately 180 positions.

“Shanna has proven her abilities as a strong manager and expert in information technology,” Cates said. “I have been impressed with her performance, and appreciate her professionalism and ability to solve problems and improve outcomes. Shanna is a valued member of our Department of Administration leadership team and now has the permanent status she deserves.”

Rahming’s previous work experience includes Truckee Meadows Community College, University of Nevada, Reno, Washoe Health System (Renown), Incline Village Hyatt Gaming, International Game Technology (IGT), Bally’s, Hilton, and the Peppermill.

The prior EITS Administrator and Chief Information Officer, Dave Gustafson, resigned effective April 2015 to accept a position out-of-state.

Background

The Department of Administration (D of A) is comprised of nine Divisions which are primarily focused on providing internal services to other state agencies. The Department has nearly 600 employees and an operating budget of $300M. The Divisions include: Administrative Services, Enterprise IT Services, Fleet Services, Hearings, Human Resource Management, Purchasing, Public Works, Risk Management, and State Library, Archives and Public Records.
