Jeff Kintop Appointed Administrator of the Nevada State Library Archives and Public Records

Carson City, NV - Department of Administration Director Patrick Cates announces the appointment of Jeff Kintop as the new Administrator for the State Library, Archives and Public Records (SLAPR) Division. Jeff, who is the recent recipient of the 2016 Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivists (CIMA) Lifetime Achievement Award, has served as interim SLAPR Administrator since February 2016, and Deputy Administrator for Archives and Public Records since July 2009.

“I am pleased Jeff accepted this appointment to administer the division,” Patrick Cates said. “Jeff’s wealth of experience with the Division, going back to 1983, combined with his demonstrated skills as a manager and forward thinker, will be an invaluable asset as we chart a course for the future.”

As SLAPR Division Administrator, Jeff Kintop manages a staff of 72 and over sees a variety of operations which allow a venue for public access to literature, research, historic documents and government records. These operations include the following: the Nevada State Library; the community library development programs; the preservation and archival of Nevada government documents; the records management training program to facilitate open government; and, the mail service program which provides overnight, outgoing and interoffice mail delivery to most state agencies across Nevada.

“I have asked Jeff to help in the creation of a bold vision for the division’s future through the expanded use of technology, enhanced services to state agencies, and expanded support of library services statewide,” Cates said. “We intend to make improvements in programs to increase access to services for both the state workforce and the general public.”

Kintop has degrees in History from the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State University, Mankato, and has taken additional coursework at the University of Nevada, Reno. He is also a Certified Archivist, a Nevada historian, and author.
