Carson City, NV February 01, 2018

Kevin Doty has been appointed as Legal Counsel for State Purchasing. This is good news for the state because this is a new position created to provide focused legal guidance on all matters of State Purchasing requirements within NRS 333. In this new position, Kevin will provide legal oversight for the State’s solicitation and contracting processes handled by State Purchasing, and will also be a resource to other state agencies. He as well as the other Purchasing Managers can provide guidance to state agencies who are considering conducting a solicitation for contracted services, regardless of the amount of the contract, and can help in ways such as crafting appropriate language or analyzing terms and conditions.

Kevin has already been with State Purchasing for over a year as its Chief of Contract Management which gives him a thorough understanding of the processes and the ability to hit the ground running in his new role as Purchasing’s in-house attorney.

Kevin received his journalism degree from the University of Illinois and his law degree from the University of Michigan. He has been a member of the State Bar of Nevada since 1994. Prior to joining the State, Kevin worked as in-house counsel for Caesars Entertainment, served as General Counsel for the Nevada Press Association, and taught at the William S. Boyd School of Law.
