Jeff Haag Announced as New State Purchasing Administrator

Carson City, NV - Department of Administration Director, Patrick Cates, announced this week the appointment of Jeff Haag as the Administrator for the Nevada State Purchasing Division, effective October 12, 2015. Haag comes to state service after working in the private sector for Southwest Airlines where he obtained more than 15 years’ experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supplier diversity, contract law, and government contracting for State and Federal government, Higher Education, and Fortune 500 Corporations. In addition, Haag has been an active member of the National Association of State Purchasing Officers, US Communities, National Defense Transportation Association, and the Society for Government Travel Professionals.

“Jeff will be a strong addition to our Department of Administration leadership team,” said Cates.

As the Nevada State Purchasing Division Administrator, Haag is responsible for all functions related to service procurement and the purchasing, renting, or leasing of supplies, materials and equipment needed by state agencies. In addition, he oversees the reallocation and disposal of excess state property, inventory of state fixed assets, and administration of the Federal Surplus Property Program.

Haag replaces Interim Administrator Lisa Sherych who filled the position on a temporary basis.

Background

The Department of Administration (D of A) is comprised of nine Divisions which are primarily focused on providing services to other state agencies. It has nearly 600 employees and an operating budget of $300M. The Divisions include: Administrative Services, Enterprise IT Services, Fleet Services, Hearings, Human Resource Management, Public Works, Purchasing, Risk Management, and State Library, Archives and Public Records.
