Executive orders are official directives issued by the Governor mandating certain governmental actions. Executive orders take the form of written documents filed with the Nevada Secretary of State; the filed copy is considered the original. They have the force of law, however, their scope is limited to the following policy areas: to reorganize or control bureaucracy; to call out the National Guard to respond to emergencies or crises; to set up commissions to study particular issues or policy problems and to respond to federal rules, regulations, or initiatives. Many Executive Orders pertain directly to Department of Administration programs and activities.
