Director of Administration Julia Teska today announced the appointment of Ann
Wilkinson to the position of Deputy Director of the Department of
Administration. Wilkinson will leave her
position with Reno City Attorney’s Office at the end of September and join the
Department of Administration, effective Monday, September 29, 2014.
“I am pleased that
Ann Wilkinson has agreed to join the Department of Administration leadership
team as the new Deputy Director. Ann’s experience with the state, especially in
her previous role as the Governor’s Deputy Chief of Staff, gives her a
comprehensive understanding of how our divisions serve other state agencies and
the public. Coupled with her extensive background in strategic leadership and
innovative thinking, I am confident she will be a great asset to this
department.”
Wilkinson is a graduate
of the University of Washington and Seattle University, and she has practiced
law for over 20 years. Her career in Nevada began as an associate with the law
firm of Hale, Lane, Peek, Dennison and Howard (now Holland & Hart) and also
includes working as an in-house attorney for Sprint Telecommunications (Las
Vegas). Additionally, Wilkinson has
extensive experience representing city, county and state departments throughout
Nevada. In her role as the First
Assistant Attorney General (2002-2005), Wilkinson advised a number of state
agencies, including the Department of Administration, and was responsible for
statewide management and operation of the Nevada Attorney General’s
Office. Recently, Wilkinson held the
position of Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Sandoval (2011-2013) where, among
other duties, she served as the Governor’s liaison to the 12 divisions that
make up the Department of Administration.
As Deputy Director
for the Department of Administration, Wilkinson will be responsible for
overseeing, planning and coordinating the operational functions and activities
within and between the divisions of the department. In addition to many other
duties, she will serve as principal advisor on divisional management operations
and ensure implementation of administrative directives, guidelines and
policies.
