May 23, 2016Carson City, NV - Congratulations to Nevada State Archivist Jeff Kintop for receiving the prestigious Conference of Inter-Mountain Archivist (CIMA) 2016 Life-Time Achievement Award!
In a recent formal ceremony, CIMA presented the award to Jeff for his outstanding contributions to the archival field. The award’s inscription reads:
Jeffrey Kintop’s years as State Archivist at the Nevada State Archives have been a shining beacon in our profession’s efforts to preserve history for researchers of today and tomorrow. Undoubtedly, his efforts will ensure that countless stories from the historical record will be saved and will have a chance to be forwarded to generations to come. It is our hope that lessons learned, will not be forgotten. Jeffrey Kintop’s work having been recognized on the state, regional and national level: has brought prestige and gravitas to the archival profession in the inter-mountain region.
The CIMA Awards Committee selected Jeff, and the CIMA members (comprised of representatives from Arizona, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah) unanimously confirmed him as this year’s award recipient.
“We are privileged to have someone of Jeff’s caliber serving as our state archivist,” said Patrick Cates, Director, Department of Administration. “His dedication and love of Nevada’s history is a treasure unto itself.”
When Jeff was first notified of the award, he was surprised and deeply honored to be counted among his long-time professional colleagues who had received this Lifetime Achievement Award. “My involvement with CIMA has made me a better archivist which in turn has allowed me to provide better archives for Nevada” Jeff said. Jeff started working for Nevada’s Archives Division in 1983 and has been a member of CIMA for 32 years.
